Yoo Yeon Seok made a comeback on theater stage through cameo performances in Lee Soon Jae’s commemorative play ‘Death of A Salesman’. He acted as ‘Howard’ in the play’s two scheduled performances on 10 and 11 February 2017 at the Uijeongbu Arts Center.
Yoo Yeon Seok played a role of ‘Howard Wagner’, boss of the company where Lee Soon Jae’s character (Willy Loman) is working at. Howard was actually named by Willy, but he later fires Willy as he sees him as liability and ignores the contribution Willy has made to the company for many years. Howard is portrayed as a character who is extremely proud of his wealth.
Yoo Yeon Seok brings out his ‘Howard’ on stage in a clean-cut suit, sleek hairstyle and glasses. KingKong by Starship Entertainment, that’s how his agency is now called, released a series of Yoo Yeon Seok’s photos of during the rehearsal. He can be seen studying his script and practiced on stage.
Being on the same stage with Lee Soon Jae must have been a very special gift for Yoo Yeon Seok. He has been very open about his admiration toward Lee Soon Jae who is also his professor at Sejong University. OSEN reported that Yoo Yeon Seok feels very grateful for the opportunity to act along side Lee Soon Jae. He feels that he is being reborn as a true performer after this play. He is very happy even though he appeared only in the second act for 10 minutes in this 3-hour musical.
The play ended with an applause to all performers, and OSEN noted that the role of Howard is particularly important as he shows Willy’s situation accurately. Howard must be played with a perfect gesture and the newspaper praises Yoo Yeon Seok for nailing the role. He managed to draw the audience deeper into the play while maintaining his unique performance.
