Yoo Yeon Seok is being cast for a new (period) movie! The casting news was out today and it was stated that he is still considering the offer to join Lee Seon Kyun in the crime solving movie that is based on a comic titled “King’s Case Files”.
An excerpt from Soompi news :
It has been confirmed by several insiders in the movie industry that Yoo Yeon Seok has been casted in the movie “The King’s Case Diary (working title),” alongside Lee Sun Gyun who was casted earlier on. “The King’s Case Diary” is originally a comic book, written by Heo Yoon Mi. It is about a king and his officer who are great detectives and solve mysteries together.
Lee Sun Gyun will play the part of the king, while Yoo Yeon Seok will be his officer. Joo Jin Mo is currently being considered for the part of the villain.
Dramabeans has previously covered on Lee Seon Kyun casting news and there a little bit more info on the movie and the characters :
The original manhwa by Heo Yoon-mi is a fictionalized retelling of King Yejong, who was the 8th king of Joseon. His father was Sejo and he only ruled for 14 months, and was barely 18 years old when he became king. The manhwa is about Yejong and his palace historian sidekick sneaking off to solve mysteries together, and is described as a funny detective action series.
Also according to Dramabeans, the officer’s character “is hilariously nicknamed “carp poop” because he follows the king around like a carp trails its poop behind it”. Lol the character sounds so cute already. If Yoo Yeon Seok takes up the offer, he’ll start filming the movie starting from April 2016.
