Leave it to Yoo Yeon Seok and Moon Chae Won in autumn setting to set your screen ablaze.
The ‘Mood That Day’ co-stars collaborated with Vogue Korea for an romantic autumn-themed photoshot. The result is stunning. Yoo Yeon Seok and Moon Chae Won look marvelous and comfortable together. When Vogue finally released the short video story of the couple, fangirls like us could do nothing but making gif-set that immortalizes many their romantic moments. Let’s be frank, who doesn’t want to read book while leaning onto Yoo Yeon Seok while he covers you with his suit.
All that fangirl’s
jealosy observation aside, Yoo Yeon Seok and Moon Chae Won told Vogue how comfortable they are working with each other. They first met, only two of them, in a chinese restaurant. They spent the first meeting eating dumplings and drinking while spending what they called as ‘100 minutes talk’ to discuss the script of their movie. When the camera rolled on for approximately 3 months, both Yoo Yeon Seok and Moon Chae Won felt like they were having a retreat since they went to several cities to shoot. During this period, Yoo Yeon Seok’s capability in arranging outing like in Youth Over Flowers was proven once again. Yoo Yeon Seok himself said that he made a list of restaurant in town through researches and would go ask Moon Chae Won what she would like to eat. When she finally made her choice, he would be readily make the reservation. In Yeosu for example, they went to have fish (eel) shabu shabu. For him, the time spent eating delicious food and drinking with the Director and Moon Chae Won was really fun. They were so comfortable working with each other, Yoo Yeon Seok even voluntarily made some suggestion to the script without hesitation. Meanwhile, Moon Chae Won was widely known to study her script very carefully throughout the making of this movie.
When it comes to the discussion on their character, one cannot escape the fact that many of Yoo Yeon Seok’s past characters prior to <Mood That Day> are not so lucky in love. He was the evil senior in <Architecture 101> and interrupted people’s love in <Werewolf Boy>. In <Reply 1994>, Chilbong harbored one side love for years. He went on to manipulate the woman who loves him in <Perfect Proposal> while as a king in <Royal Tailor>, he refused to touch his own queen. It all changed in the <Mood That Day> as he was asked by the Director to ‘just be cool’ when it comes to Jae Hyun. As a person type A, Jae Hyun is someone who always think before he acts. That’s why he always try to make himself look ‘cool’ in front of other people. Moon Chae Woon let go of a sigh when she was asked what happen if Jae Hyun came to real life. Surprisingly, Yoo Yeon Seok said acting all cool is the most difficult. Yet, he personally took picture of female staff (his biggest hobby is photography and he’s known of keeping his camera in his car at all times) and gifted it as a set with pepero during Pepero Day on 11 November.
For Vogue, Yoo Yeon Seok also talked about his motto in life. His motto is “let’s not regret”. For the past 10 years, he was relatively unknown. He’d rather strive to be a better actor by agreeing on playing different characters in slightly difference genres. But when he looked back to his 20s, he said he did not have any regret. The motto is also what motivated him to take his first professional musical role. He had no background in singing or musical, but he wanted to relive the feeling he had when he was on stage during school play. He is so happy to recevie ‘passing grade’ from his fans on his musical performance.
Yoo Yeon Seok’s musical performance in ‘Man Who Walk Through Walls’ will run until Valentine Day, 14 February 2016.
