(Quote) To you, what kind of actor Yoo Yeon Seok is?

“I’ve found the answer as to the question of ‘a good actor, the best actor or the needed actor’.

When I first started acting, I worked hard to become a good actor. I tried my best to hear that “There’s a new actor who is really good at acting”. When I got a lot of love, I was greedy at that time to be the best. Now I want to become an actor that is necessary for every kind of work.

If I ever decide to quit acting, I want to hear others’ saying, “I wish to see his acting again.” I also want to become an actor that staffs and producers need. I am not sure whether it will be feasible or not, but I thought of becoming an actor that is necessary.” (Yoo Yeon Seok’s interview with Chosun Ilbo, January 2017)

There are many life lessons worth noted throughout the drama, and it ended with the one from Teacher Kim about how to live a romantic life. Narrated beautifully (as always) by uri Yoo Yeon Seok, it says:

You cannot find the right answer every single time. But Teacher Kim always said, ‘Do not give up asking questions about why we live and what we live for. The moment you give up on that, the romance in life ends’

Actress Kim Hye Soo cameos on the final and prequel episodes as Teacher Kim’s first love named Lee Young Jo who works for Doctor without Borders. It is wonderful to see her story is seamlessly woven into the dynamics of Doldam family. Her brief appearance peaked at 31.5%, the highest real-time ratings ever recorded by the drama.

But there is nothing can beat the satisfaction of watching our resident doctors grows into their better self, all the while finding love and friendship in each other. A little jealousy and fights are common in this quirky hospital as long as patients are saved and love are preserved.

What Yang Se Jong Has to Say on Yoo Yeon Seok?

About Yoo Yeon Seok, Yang Se Jong said “He’s a really nice hyung”, while smiling brightly. Yoo Yeon Seok played Kang Dong Joo, Do In Bum’s bickering rival.

“Starting from the second half of filming, every day I would tell Yeon Seokie hyung ‘I love you sunbae-nim’, ‘Sunbae-nim, today too, I love you'” Yang Se Jong laughed as he said this.

“Yeon Seokie hyung is a real mood maker at the filming site. He’s always cheerful and kind so he makes people happy. I really like him that  I would confess that I love him every day. Then one day hyung replied ‘Oh yes, I love you too’ to me (laughed)”

[20160116] Instagram Update: Yoo Yeon Seok Bids Farewell to His Kang Dong Joo

They said good things eventually come to an end. So does the role of doctor Kang Dong Joo to Yoo Yeon Seok. As ‘Romantic Doctor Teacher Kim is nearing its end, his time playing doctor Kang is also numbered. This role must be a sentimental one for him as he took to instagram to share a farewell melancholic message to his white doctor gown and name tag.

English translation:

I’ve been wearing this doctor’s gown for 4 months. Today is the last time… ㅜㅠ #DoldamHospital #GeneralSurgeon #KangDongJoo

Not long after he posted the sentimental note, Yoo Yeon Seok shared another photo on instagram to thank actress Park Shin Hye the coffee truck she sent to his drama set.

English translation:

Queen, thanks~^^ The support warmed the hearts during the last shooting. Shin Hye ya thank you~~ Romantic Doctor + Doctors = Romantic Doctors

Wonder why he called address Park Shin Hye as ‘queen’ on his instagram post? If your minds immediately wander to ‘Royal Tailor’ movie, you will surely get a right answer. In the movie, Park Shin Hye plays Yoo Yeon Seok’s queen whose relationship to the King turned bitter at the end. Luckily, Yoo Yeon Seok and Park Shin Hye continues to be good friend long after their movie ended. She previously showed her support to Yoo Yeon Seok by attending his musical ‘Man Who Walk Through Walls’. Oh, let’s not forget that our Teacher Kim is also in ‘Royal Tailor’ as the King’s tailor.

[Rating Report]’Romantic Doctor Teacher Kim’ Breaks Its Own Record in Week 9

Heading toward its finale, ‘Romantic Doctor Teacher Kim’ proves once again that there’s no end to how high its rating can go. As if hitting a new high of 26% during the airing of episode 18 is not enough,  the drama soars higher in episode 19 as it clocked in 26.7% viewership rating.

The success came with a sweet reward as the cast and crew is confirmed to have a paid vacation in Cebu, the Philippines. They are scheduled to depart on 20 January on  a 4-days-5-nights vacation.  Lead stars Han Suk Gyu and Seo Hyun Jin will not be able to join due to personal schedules.

The rating in episode 18 peaked at 30% when Dong Joo (Yoo Yeon Seok) confronted his mentor Teacher Kim (Han Suk Kyu) of events surrounding the death of his father in Goedae Hospital.  According to Nielsen Korea, as cited by International Business Time, a 30% rating in episode 18 means that around six million viewers tuned in to watch the drama. The drama leads the Monday-Tuesday broadcast slot by a landslide with four time as many viewers as other two shows at the same time.

As the drama progresses, viewers are hooked with its storylines as well as the growth of its characters. Everyone in Doldam are flawed characters to begin with and its so satisfying to see their steady progress throughout the series. People in their 20s, especially, will relate with Dong Joo’s arc as he struggles to find his place in the world. People are in turn rooting for him and are anticipating how much he will grow as a doctor and as a person. So imagine how satisfying it must be to see the selfish and ambitious Dong Joo learns how to apologise, set aside his ego and becoming a doctor that he supposed to be. Many are praising Yoo Yeon Seok for his portrayal of Dong Joo and we could’t be happier *mama bear sobs*.

If there is one thing that the drama hasn’t made any change but still made us happy is the amount of behind the scene pictures released to public. Through the pictures, viewers can feel just how comfortable the casts are with each other. They are seen laughing, sending cheeky smiles and most importantly, some tall person is extra clingy to his sunbae. hehehe…
