[20151215] Yoo Yeon Seok’s Star Interview with Cosmopolitan Korea

Cosmopolitan Korea had a pictorial and an interview with Yoo Yeon Seok for its January 2016 issue. YeoNiverse is now presenting to you the summary of a few of his interview answers (but not in order) for you to read ❤

A man who works tirelessly throughout the year. A man who choose work over rest. A man who wants to concentrate on himself than any other. That man is actor Yoo Yeon Seok and he is about to welcome his first movie in 2016, <The Mood That Day>.

 photo Photo 1_1.jpg

Q: You have been working continuously the last few years. You did dramas and movies one after another. And when you actually have a chance to take a breath, still you said that you want to do a musical. Somewhat it makes Yoo Yeon Seok as a person who works without a break.

In his answer Yoo Yeon Seok said he’s always yearning to do stage performances. He said he can’t forget the positive energy that he got when he was doing performance at school. And it’s not easy to have the opportunity to do full-scale acting on the stage.

Q: I’m so curious so I watched your musical “The Man Who Passed through the walls”. But I’m surprised. The song is well composed and the diction is great.

Yoo Yeon Seok said he is so thankful for the praise. He said actually he is not a person who can brag about his singing skill. “Compared with other musical actors/actresses, I’m nothing. I just thought that I have to deliver the dialogues and the feeling of the character. So more than singing, I put the character Dutilleul’s feeling into the melody.”

Q: But you must be confident in singing to declare that you want to challenge the musical

Yoo Yeon Seok answered that musical was his hobby. He didn’t do it because he got special training. “There are some musical that I like and I had great longing for musical.” He also said that he feel so thankful he meet with the good project as his first musical.

Q: Movie “The Mood That Day” will be released in January. I heard YeonSeok-ssi’s role ‘Jae Hyeon’ is a person who say “let’s sleep with me today” to the woman he meets for the first time. After he tossed the statement that close with sexual harrasment, I’m curious if they finally sleep together or not.

Yoo Yeon Seok : “Please check by yourself in cinema haha. The Mood That Day is the movie about a man named Jae Hyeon who enjoys one night stand and Moon Chae Won ssi’ role ‘Soo Jeong’, a woman who has the opposite nature with him. They meet by fate in ktx, then various episodes will begin. How their destiny in the end and how they will get connected, you will know if you watch the movie”

Q: Honestly, do you ever have experience to fall in love at the first sight like in the movie

Yoo Yeon Seok answered he never experienced falling in love at the first sight. But he did want to try talking to a woman who passed by. “In the past, I like that woman but I couldn’t bring my self to talk with her. I kept thinking about her all day. Even the next few days, I kept thinking about her and I regretted (that I didn’t ask her)” So if the same occasion happens to him in the future he decides to say “I like you, and if now I don’t ask for your phone number I think I’ll regret it”

Q: I’m curious on what point to make Yoo Yeon Seok fall in love?

Yoo Yeon Seok said every person have different charms but outgoing persons who have the same interest are not many. And he still said the woman who has a beautiful smile, but he couldn’t explain how to smile like that.

Yoo Yeon Seok also talked about love in this interview, as translated by Soompi :

In the interviews that followed the pictorial shoot, he talked about his ideal kind of love. He said, “I think that someone who really loves me will love my incompleteness and faults as well. For example, when my hair looks awful because I just woke up, I hope that the perfect woman will love that too. I think I will feel the real love then. However, I look really awful when I have just woken up.”

[20151226] Yoo Yeon Seok’s Interview with M Magazine

What will happen if a successful and playboy sport agent meet a career woman who’s hesitant to entertain his advance during their journey to Busan? You will get the answer once Yoo Yeon Seok and Moon Chae Won’s new movie <The Mood That Day> premieres on 14 January 2016.

 photo mjoins9.jpg photo mjoins2.jpg
 photo mjoins10.jpg

In the interview for M Magazine, Yoo Yeon Seok explains more about Jae Hyun – his character in <The Mood That Day> – and his interpretation of the character. Jae Hyun, he said, is pretty much at the other side of his breakthrough character “Chilbong” from <Reply 1994, TvN>. Other than talking about Jae Hyun, he also gives more tidbits on his musical which is surprisingly tied with his traveling hobby.

 photo mjoins1.jpg photo mjoins8.jpg photo mjoins7.jpg

When he first met Director Jo, Yoo Yeon Seok was told that a man like him doesn’t have the vibe of a playboy but if he plays such role, women will certainly love him. He laughs and considers it as a compliment. That’s why he wants to bring out the many sides of Jae Hyun that he doesn’t have.

Later on, Yoo Yeon Seok first pointed out that Jae Hyun is a person who’s very open to women when he was asked about the difference between his and Jae Hyun’s personality. Being that very open to women is  exactly the thing that he could not do. He believes that women dislikes guys who’s so easy to ask them out. That’s why he tries to be closer to his castmate (Moon Chae Won) to avoid awkward atmosphere because such scenes are required in the movie.

Then how Yoo Yeon Seok studied for Jae Hyun’s character? He responded while laughing that he did his best. He said that he studied through friends about what women likes or their favorite things. He also contacted friend who is known to be not very shy with women. He also studied from a character called Ari Gold played by Jeremy Piven in an HBO drama called <Entourage>.

In shooting romantic comedy (movie), the relationship between him and Moon Chae Won is important. He was asked how’s the two off the camera. Yoo Yeon Seok spills out that both of them loves eating and had a restaurant tour together during the shooting. They ate 한우삼합 in Jangheung, Jeolla Province and eel shabu shabu in Yeosu.

 photo mjoins3.jpg

The discussion swings to the musical that Yoo Yeon Seok currently headlines, <The Man Who Walks Through Walls>. He reveals that in his early 20s, he travelled to the UK and was captivated by two famous musicals called <Fame> and <Phantom of the Opera>. Both musicals left strong impression on him. He even saved money intended for food to re-watch the musicals. So when the musical offer finally came, he agreed to do it.

So how’s his feeling when he finally performed on a musical stage for the first time? Yoo Yeon Seok admits that he was so nervous he totally forgot his own feeling (that day). He suffered from a sickness called ‘rhinitis’ that caused nasal voice due to runny nose but he is thankful that it didn’t affect his overall performance.

 photo mjoins4.jpg

What 2015 means to Yoo Yeon Seok?

He started off 2015 in the midst of shooting <The Mood that Day>. The shooting started in November 2014 and ran for 3 months. He didn’t stop (shooting) since. He filmed <Beauty Inside> which was opened on 20 August 2015 in the Czech Republic and later a drama <Warm and Cozy>. He exited the drama set only to join the filming of <Heohwa> which will open in 2016. Soon after, he is already busy for musical. Looking back, there was almost no break in between. While looking at his manager who sit on the set, he utters his wish to refrain himself from having a shooting marathon.

In October this year, Yoo Yeon Seok ventures into business with the opening of LUA lounge bar in Itaewon. He shrugs its importance by saying that it is not a big business. He jokingly said that LUA is kind of a hideout for him. But truth to be told, he envisioned LUA as a meeting place where he can invites people who work with him for a discussion. He personally designed the interior and is happy to hear that people like it. Yoo Yeon Seok himself enjoys making things, from cosmetics to furniture. But these days, he is into design interior. He is going through blogs on design interior or reading book to get the hang of it.

 photo mjoins5.jpg

The interview also takes Yoo Yeon Seok to go down the memory lane. Looking back to his 20s, he felt that there was some anxiety if he did not do anything. He also travelled extensively during those period. Not to mention his early career where indie movies became his channel to put a footprint as an actor. One of his early and memorable indie movies is <Re-encounter> which was released in 2011. Now, in his early 30s, he realizes that a pause is also needed in life.

 photo mjoins6.jpg

So what’s next for Yoo Yeon Seok?

The answer is <Heohwa> in which plays Kim Hyun Woo, a composer who is stuck in between two women played by Han Hyo Joo and Chun Woo Hee. He spills out that audience can expect passionate love triangle in the movie.

[20151228] Yoo Yeon Seok and Moon Chae Won’s Preview on ‘Please Take Care of My Refrigerator’

JTBC announced in early December 2015 that Yoo Yeon Seok and Moon Chae Won will appear in their variety show called ‘Please Take Care of My Refrigerator (냉장고를 부탁해)’. The recording itself took place on 14 December 2015 and the preview of their appearance was aired at the last segment of episode 59 on 28 December 2015.

‘Please Take Care of My Refrigerator’ is a cooking competition where six star chefs cook simple yet delicious dishes from whatever ingredients that are found in the refrigerator of celebrity guests. During the preview, Moon Chae Won was seen running around the kitchen to help the star chef. While we didn’t get a preview of what Yoo Yeon Seok is doing in the show, we surely got a glimpse on how he feels when he first met his ‘Mood That Day’ co-star that happened around the same time a year before. His comment is so melancholically cheesy, it’s enough to start a rumour mill of the birth of new star couple.

Check out the preview below:

Make sure you catch episode 60 of ‘Please Take Care of My Refrigerator’ to check the truth in the star couple rumors see what’s inside Yoo Yeon Seok’s refrigerator. Let’s hope that his fridge doesn’t dissapoint since he is known to enjoy cooking and had taken lesson from famous chef Raymond Kim to prepare for his role as a chef in drama ‘Warm and Cozy’. Not to mention, he is literally running a lounge bar called Lua and are seen welcoming his friends, colleagues, and friends to enjoy good food and wine there.

Yeon Seok and Moon Chae Won’s episode will officially air on 4 January 2016.

[Eng Sub] Yoo Yeon Seok’s and Moon Chae Won’s ‘Mood of the Day’ movie trailer and posters

When the movie casting news were out back then, we thought the movie was going to be a romantic drama ala Before Sunrise but it turns out that it will a romantic comedy instead!

The characters’ posters were released along with the movie trailer earlier this week. Truth be told, we had mixed feelings about the movie’s synopsis, description and trailer. “Goodness why is he like that?! SMH” “Oooh look at his hair wow he looks good” “Ugh, run Soo Jung, run!” and a variety of reactions more. Haha.

Below is the subbed trailer and you can see Yoo Yeon Seok playing Jae Hyun, a cheeky but problematic pursuer.  Lol he’s so shameless, really. Hopefully the full movie will lean more on the fun and cheeky side than the uncomfortable side. *pleaseeeeee*

Here are the posters and their descriptions from Hancinema :

“Mood of the Day” is a romantic comedy about an impregnable girl and a blind hole guy meeting one day on the KTX and waging on a one-night-stand.

Yoo Yeon-seok and Moon Chae-won are expected to bring sweet romance to theaters this January.

Yoo Yeon-seok plays Jae-hyeon, a guy who doesn’t fail to get any woman he wants and believes that one-night-stands are also love.

Moon Chae-won is a cheerful and loveable character who has had her eyes set on only one man for the last 10 years.

 photo yys-mood poster.jpg

The poster shows the mental thoughts of young men and women these days. Yoo Yeon-seok being a sports agent, poses in the poster with a basketball, looking very carefree. The poster says, “I can get what I want if I want to. Between grown-ups, is that too hard?”

 photo mcw - mood poster.jpg

Moon Chae-won being the youngest cosmetic brand company marketing team manager, she poses with a camera case, a file and make-up case. She looks like a haughty career woman who won’t be an easy one to break. Her poster says, “Is it easy to spend a night with someone you just met?”

Tsk tsk Jae Hyun…

Anyway, on December 8, Yoo Yeon Seok, Moon Chae Won and the director will attend a ‘production report’ event at CGV Apgujeong. Maybe we’ll get more materials on the movie other than these trailer, two posters and one still cut.

The movie is set to be released in January 2016 but there is no words on the exact date, yet.

[20150429] Yoo Yeon Seok’s Filmography Update

Okay, just how many movies Yoo Yeon Seok did in the past year?

We are about to lose track, to be honest. He literally spent most of his time last year filming movies after movies (plus lots of CFs). If Na PD did not kidnap and ship him off to Laos with Son Ho Jun and Baro, we were really in danger of not seeing him in the small screen all year long. Youth Over Flowers first aired in September and ran until October 2014.

The Informant and Royal Tailor were released in October and December 2014 respectively. Expectation was running high before turning tide with the push back of Perfect Proposal‘s release date to June 2015. Not to mention all the bits and pieces about his movie with Moon Chae Woon titled The Mood That Day to keep the fans on their toes. Then came Warm and Cozy which released all Yoo Yeon Seok’s fans from fear of their favorite actor never to make a return to the small screen.

“When it rains, it pours”

Now we have an update on his even newer movie, Beauty Inside. Joining Han Hyo Joo and Park Seo Joon, Yoo Yeon Seok appeared in a promotional video of the movie.

 photo BeautyInside Promo.jpg

The video released on Naver (click HERE) allures prospective audience to enter a competition by shooting a video like main character, Woo Jin.  The contest opens today [2015-04-29] until 3 May 2015. The winner of the competition will have their name put on the credit title.

The movie Beauty Inside is based on the 2012 American social film with the same name sponsored by Intel and Toshiba that won the  commercial awards at the 2013 Clio Awards & Cannes Lions. The Korean adaptation stars Han Hyo Joo as Yi Soo on whom Woo Jin has a big crush. According to enewsworld, Woo Jin is a man who wakes up as a different person every morning, across all genders, ages and nationalities. Kinda scary, don’t you think? Well,  not necessarily when you have literally all the stars out there to play this unique character. The stars casted to play as Woo Jin include our Yoo Yeon Seok, Park Seo Joon, Lee Beom Soo, Lee Dong Wook, and Lee Jin Wook as well as Park Shin Hye and Japan’s Ueno Juri. Sounds like we got a star-studded movie here.

Prior to the promotional video, there are photos leaked from the shooting locations. Yoo Yeon Seok himself posted a couple of photos [P1, P2, P3] in Praha when he apparently shot his scenes with Han Hyo Joo. Though he never really posted his picture with Han in Praha, no worries… we got it all covered.

Yoo Yeon Seok also took a behind-the-scene picture with child actor Park Min Su who has kindly shared it on his instagram.

The release dates for both Beauty Inside and The Mood That Day are still unknown.

What we know, Yoo Yeon Seok is still scheduled to shoot a new movie, currently titled “Hae Uh Hwa“, with Han Hyo Joo. This movie was supposed to start filming in April but KingKong Entertainment Ceo Lee Jin Sung has kindly confirmed that the shooting will only happen in early summer. So let’s be thankful, the free timeslot created by the pushback enabled Yoo Yeon Seok to accept Hong Sisters’ offer to play Baek Geun Woo in Warm and Cozy.

Guess it’s fate, people…

[20150131] Filming for “The Mood That Day” completes

We all know that Yoo Yeon Seok has this tradition whenever he completes projects to take polaroid photos with members of the cast and crew and gives them away. Oh well, on the last day of January photos of the entire crew for his upcoming movie with Moon Chae Woon keeps popping up on Instagram. We can now say that the principal photography for the movie “The Mood That Day” has completed. And the long and arduous wait for the movie to be released continues.

Movies are great but hear the pleas of your international fans to go and do dramas.

His Instagram post came out before this Facebook update. The background is very telling that he is on location shoot for the movie “The Mood That Day”. Doesn’t he look glorious with his new haircut? And yes, he looks even younger. These behind the scenes teasers from the filming site are hints that this movie is going to be oh-so-pretty!

Yoo Yeon Seok and Moon Chae Won Are Confirmed as Leads for “The Mood That Day”

 photo MoodThatDay.jpg

The news of Yoo Yeon Seok and Moon Chae Won possibly leading a movie first surfaced in March this year. That was like 7 months ago? Few medias reported that both were in talks, reviewing and considering to star alongside one another in an upcoming movie, tentatively titled as <In the Mood for Love> or <The Atmosphere that Day>.

After months of waiting, the casting is finally confirmed. Yoo Yeon Seok and Moon Chae Won are set to play a man and woman who meet at the KTX by chance and go on a 24-hour adventure together in Busan. Directed by Jo Kyu Jang, the movie’s official title would be 그날의 분위기 with possible English title of <The Mood That Day>.

The two stars are set to crank-in this movie in September (meaning this month!) following the wrapping of Moon Chae Won’s shooting schedule of movie “Today’s Love”. As for Yoo Yeon Seok, we can conclude from the letter he posted on YeonLiji that he’s been on a relax mood by travelling recently to Turkey and Greece as well as spending times with his family to celebrate Chuseok / Mid-Autumn Festival. He even showed us how relax he is by posting a video of him playing with his cousin’s baby Hae Won on Instagram. Sure enough, the promotion of movie <Whistle Blower> which is set to release on 02 October keeps him occupied.

<The Mood That Day> is expected for release in 2015.

Long wait? No worry, YeoNizen. For you who can’t wait to see him on screen, Youth Over Flower Laos Team will finally be on air in a few days time, 12 September 2014. So mark you calendars (^o^)/
