Welcome back to another edition of “Yoo Yeon Seok’s Update from Around the Net”. Today’s edition will be Warm and Cozy heavy as we got some pretty nice updates from the drama set. We got some sibling “drama”, a happy kid, and more of stylish chef Baek Geun Woo.
But before all of that, let’s first and foremost congratulate Yoo Yeon Seok on getting his instagram account verified! His facebook account was verified much earlier although we might need to wait until verification can be made for his twitter account (which literally now only showcases his instagram entries).
We might never know if he is as happy getting his account verified but we surely know Yoo Yeon Seok appeared really happy when it comes to receiving fan’s love and support. He is surprised yet touched receiving token of support from Armeria and DC Gallery that came to the drama set on 12 and 16 June respectively. He is very thankful for all the support he received and this happy picture of him was uploaded into his official facebook account on 17 June 2015.
It appears that Yoo Yeon Seok was not the only ones who were all bubly and excited on the set. His “siblings” too!! Ok Ji Yong who plays his Noona uploaded a photo of the siblings acting all power rangers when they filmed episode 12 on her instagram. She also uploaded a collage of playful brothers about to “eat” their sister and big bro’s lady diver. Aren’t they just cute?
If Yoo Yeon Seok is all playful with his siblings, he is certainly oozing a different aura when it comes to showcasing his cooking acting. KingKong Entertainment released a series of pictures showing flower chef Baek Geun Woo in action.
Flower boy chef is so charming, he graces the cover of TVian, MBC’s very own online magazine, for their June 2015 edition. The magazine makes no coverage of Yoo Yeon Seok per se but we are taken behind the scene of Baek Geun Woo’s warm and sophisticated working station as well as Warm and Cozy’s press conference.
If you wish for other than Warm and Cozy update, no worries.. Yoo Yeon Seok ditched his devilish smoking Perfect Proposal persona to woo fans with an all-white romantic look in the new photoshot for Cine21. We are yet to know the particular edition of Cine21 in which these photos will be featured but let’s keep it in our watch list okay?!
Yoo Yeon Seok is also giving out a different persona from his Seung Yeol in the interview with Im Soo Jung on KBS Entertainment Weekly. Rather, he looks so embarrassingly cute after sending message to his ‘werewolf boy’ co-star Song Joong Ki who just completed his military service. 이 상황이 당황스러운 정주(강소라). 건우(유연석)는 막상 자신의 행동에 안절부절 하고, 정주는 더 이상 휘둘릴 수 없다는 생각에 나름의 방법으로 ‘작정하고 건우 유 혹하기’로 반격에 나선다.
해실(김희정)은 이별의 후유증으로 몸살을 앓고, 해녀 축제 일로 정근(이성재)의 리 조트에 들렀다가 정근과 마주치게 된다.

Because of this situation, Jeong Joo (Kang Sora) feels humiliated. Geun Woo (Yoo Yeon Seok) feels uneasy because of his action. Jeong Joo doesn’t want to be swayed further by Geon Woo’s temptation so she decides to revenge on him.
Hae Shil is sick after the separation. Then she visits Jung Geun’s resort to talk about female divers festival and bumps into Jeung Geun.
The drama just reached its halfway mark and we have been spoiled with seeing Yoo Yeon Seok in our screen again every week. What makes it more special is that this is his first leading role since his debut more than 10 years ago.
Yoo Yeon Seok appears as Chef Baek Geun Woo who (lazily) run a nicely decorated Warm and Cozy restaurant in Jeju. Although he is lazy, Baek Geun Woo seems to enjoy making and serving food to people, which add a nice layer into his character. Glad that we have Yoo Yeon Seok playing the character because he is quite known as someone who enjoys making his own food, cosmetics and even furniture (we made a post on that HERE). Now that he is playing chef, he channels his passion by taking an extra cooking lesson from renowned Chef Raymond Kim.
Capitalizing on his refined culinary skills, MBC inserts Baek Geun Woo’s cooking class as special segment in each episode. Here, Yoo Yeon Seok tells and shows viewers how to make the featured dishes or beverage. We never know whether he is the one who really cooks them or he just put a convincing cooking performance, but you might find it difficult to deny that the food and tangerine tea look mega delicious.

After approximately 1 year and 5 months, Yoo Yeon Seok finally returns to the small screen in his first leading role in drama. Warm and Cozy aired the first episode on 13 May 2015 at MBC. Warm and Cozy starts with an episode that oozes with warm and cozy feeling it promised. The Jeju island scenery in the background is breathtaking while the color of the drama is simply pretty. Yoo Yeon Seok and Kang Sora are enjoyable in their acting with different range of emotions. Some scenes are funny but others are heartbreaking with some meta jokes and imagination in between. Let’s take a look at the highlights of the show
– Baek Geun Woo (Yoo Yeon Seok) and Lee Jeong Joo (Kang Sora) thought they were twins although the childish perception seems to be quickly resolved. But we never really know what are the birth secrets revolving these two. Yet, as soon as the misunderstanding resolved, they quickly flirt with each other.
– Baek Geun Woo opened the cafe for Mok Ji Won, his crush who crushed him by friendzoning (#chilbonging) him all years long. She just returned from New York after a broken engagement but she seems to have found a new beau already. He’s telling her to come to his Jeju cafe but that longing look of him gave the obvious answer. She might never come as someone he’s hoping for.
– Lee Jeong Joo is betrayed twice in the same episode. By his cousin who swindled her money and her boyfriend who dumped her for another women. The poor girl was also used by Geun Woo at one time, although his initial intention was to ask her to tell his cousin to buy HIS cafe, not any other cafe. Poor girl is having a hard day.
– Some misunderstandings are planting seeds in directing the course of Baek Geun Woo’s and Lee Jeong Joo’s lives. Jeong Joo put her mint candy in a medicine box that was left behind by a grandma in the airport. She didn’t really pay attention to its label because all she needed was a box to put her candies. She didn’t realized that the bottle was used to store painkillers for terminal cancer patients. Question now: Does he think that Jeong Joo is having a terminal sickness? If he does, is that the reason that made him look for her following their initial meeting? It doesn’t help really that Lee Jeong Joo swallowed the candies after saying she has a headache and later saying she wanted to stay in Jeju until she dies.
Teasers taught us a better lesson: your prediction could go wrong. Very wrong.
The first episode did relatively well in the ratings (6.3% nationwide), trailing behind two dramas Unkind Women and Sensory Couple. It also gathered mixed responses from audience. So what do you think of the first episode? Let us know your responses here 🙂
